So…you’ve been thinking about Botox?
Why people wait too long
So you’ve been thinking about Botox? But…you’re still thinking. And now, all of a sudden, it’s been years since that first thought, and you’re noticing deeper lines. Those static lines that stay—even when you’re not making an expression.
When you notice the lines even without expression…it’s time for the tox.
Waiting and waiting until those lines are deep and etched in? Think of those lines like scars. The longer they go without treatment, the deeper they become and the harder they are to reverse and smooth. This is when things can start getting a bit more difficult.
So why do people wait too long?
Fear. Intimidation. Not knowing who to trust with your face. Seeing the overdone, “fake” Hollywood look walking around only creates more hesitation…and so the cycle continues.
Whatever the reason may be—we’ve heard it. We understand it. And we’re here to listen, educate, and guide you through the process.

The biggest myths
Some of the biggest myths about Botox…how much time do we have?! There are so many we could chat about, but let’s start with the top three we hear most often.
1. “Botox will make me look frozen.”
Myth!
This is exactly why seeing an experienced injector matters. (Yes, that means maybe don’t shop Groupon for Botox. 😉)
At EmSea, we study each individual’s anatomy, muscle strength, facial movement, and overall goals before we ever inject. Every client is dosed appropriately to create natural results that also give you beautiful longevity.
Our goal? You look refreshed—not frozen.
2. “Botox is only for wrinkles.”
Myth!
When injected into targeted muscle groups, Botox can absolutely soften wrinkles—but that’s not all it does.
It can also provide subtle lifting to areas like the brows and lower face (we love a lower-face tox moment!!). Many people don’t realize Botox can be used below the upper face…and it absolutely can.
One of our favorite areas to treat? The neck. Hello, Nefertiti neck lift.
Because who doesn’t love the look of a sharper jawline and a tighter neck? I know I do.
3. “Botox will fill my lines.”
Myth!
Botox is a neuromodulator (a fancy way of saying it relaxes muscle movement).
By reducing repetitive muscle movement, Botox helps prevent the skin from continuously folding, which is what creates that smoother appearance we all love.
What it doesn’t do…is fill.
Botox is injected into muscles. Areas that need filler (drum roll, please…) need filler.
Think structural areas like the cheeks, chin, jawline, and sometimes the nasolabial folds—those are filler conversations, not Botox conversations.

How many units do I actually need?
It really depends. There are many variables that ultimately determine how many units someone needs. It’s kind of like asking, “What size jeans do I wear?” Everyone has a different body, shape, and desired fit—everyone is different.
Things we take into consideration include muscle strength, female vs. male (men tend to require more units because they generally have stronger muscles), the areas being treated, your age, whether this is your first time or you’ve been treating your skin for years, and your desired outcome and longevity.
Remember this… dose = duration. It’s an important concept to understand!
If we, as injectors, are consistently underdosing clients, we’re often bringing you back more frequently—which, in the long run, can actually do more harm than good. Underdosing, or “baby Botox,” may contribute to developing tolerance or decreased effectiveness over time…which no one wants.
More on that topic another time. 😌

How to choose an injector
Choosing an injector shouldn’t be like shopping for the best sale or the lowest price. Injecting is a medical procedure that requires a high level of knowledge, experience, and understanding of facial anatomy.
Ask to see before-and-after photos. Ask about their experience, level of training, and how long they’ve been injecting.
The best injectors have a deep understanding of facial anatomy and should be able to explain why they’re treating a certain area—not just where they’re injecting—and what the expected outcome is.
Find an injector who starts by asking about your goals, rather than immediately telling you what you “need.” The experience should feel collaborative, not authoritative. We’re here to educate you, guide you, and help you make decisions that feel right for you.
Choosing your injector should feel like you’re on the same team, working toward the same goal: natural, beautiful results that make you feel like the best version of yourself. You should never feel pressured, rushed, or uncomfortable during the decision-making process.
At the end of the day, the best injectors don’t want you to look like someone else. They want you to look like you—just refreshed, confident, and well-rested.
